A 5th championship for LeBron James is looking dimmer – Skip Bayless

    June 21, 2023

NBA analyst Skip Bayless feels LeBron James’ chances of winning the fifth championship are looking dimmer. James, 38, played his 20th NBA season in the recently concluded season. The veteran took the Los Angeles Lakers to the Western Conference finals but they were clean swept by eventual champions Denver Nuggets.

James once again played a key role in the success of his team. The veteran had an average of 27.2 points in the regular season of the NBA 2022-23. In the post-season, James had an average of 24.5 for the Lakers.

In fact, James has been performing consistently despite being 38 as he has been playing at the top of his game. However, Bayless believes James might not be able to add a fifth title to his impressive cabinet.

“Now a 5th championship for LeBron James is looking dimmer and dimmer,” Bayless Tweeted. “Now he’s looking up at Denver, at KD/Book/Beal, even at Kawhi who will be much better after getting his knee cleaned out.”

Meanwhile, Phoenix Suns have roped in the services of Bradley Beal. On the other hand, as per the reports in ESPN, the Lakers are expected to match contract offers for Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura in free agency.

“The Lakers’ current Plan A, which calls for re-signing free agents Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura and trying to sign Chris Paul as a free agent should Paul make it to the open market in the wake of his inclusion in the Beal-to-Phoenix trade,” Stein wrote.

On the other hand, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins wants the Lakers to sign Chris Paul for the upcoming season.

“Chris Paul to the Lakers would shake up the league,” Perkins said. “You know why? We heard LeBron James talking about retirement, and we know damn well he’s not going anywhere. But what it did make me realize is that is he losing a little motivation right now.”

“Pairing up with one of his great friends in the point guard, CP3 would give him that extra juice to say, ‘You know what? I’m excited about coming back to next season.’”
