The stage is set for the NBA Finals as the Golden State Warriors have returned to this stage after missing out on a couple of years. The Dubs will face the Boston Celtics in the big clash. Although the Celtics are a massive franchise and have won the highest number of championships in the history along with the Lakers, the team they have is very inexperienced as even players like Al Horfordf and Marcus Smart are also playing their first NBA finals of their career.
It will be interesting to see how the players fare against each other. People are excited to see Smart go up against Draymond Green as two of the best defenders in the league clash swords against each other. But before we come to business, Grant WIlliams of the Celtics shared a very cool anecdote with the media that highlights how he has always been a fan of Draymond Green and how he supported the Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He shares how everyone back in his college was backing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers but he was the only one who backed Draymond and the Warriors to win. “I remember exactly where I was when the Warriors won for the first time. I was in college, and I remember watching the game, and I was going for the Warriors then back in the day because I’m a Draymond guy,” Grant Williams shared.
It is funny how Williams in a couple of days will take the court against his favourite player Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors. While the Warriors are looking to continue their legacy, the Celtics have reached the finals after a span of 12 years and this time they are keen to fight for it.
Coming back to Grant WIlliams’ love for Draymond Green, it is not something to be very shocked about as though they are not similar players, Grant likes to hustle and has that gritty nature. He takes a lot of inspiration from Green who is one of the best defenders in the NBA right now and his hustle and grit are his biggest selling points. So it is fair to assume that Grant will relish this opportunity to play against his idol at the big stage in the NBA Finals.
