CJ McCollum feels Myles Turner is a very special 7-footer and predicts a big future for the Pacers center

Indian Pacers center Myles Turner was in the radar of many franchises during the offseason. A lot of franchises consider him as a top talent but they failed to initiate a perfect deal with the Pacers to lure their center away. However Turner has been doing well for the Pacers this season and therefore he was a topic of discussion in the latest CJ McCollum Show where the New Orleans Pelicans guard shared how Turner is a very unique player in his own rights.

Turner has had a fantastic start to the season as he is averaging 17.7 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game through the six games this season. His best performance till now came against the Pelicans where McCollum saw him closely and took notice.

The Pacers center scored 37 points in that game along with 12 rebounds when he was 37 minutes on the court as he guided the Pacers to a 129-122 win over Zion Williamson. CJ McCollum had an off day at the office as he could only manage nine points.

However he shared how Turner is a very rare player who is more comfortable on the perimeter than on the paint. The point makes him different because he is different from the other centers in the league. “A rare seven footer that is almost more comfortable on the perimeter than he is in the paint. … I think he’s got a lot to prove,” McCollum shared.

Turner is shooting at an average of 49.2% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc. To put things into clearer perspective the Pacers center has dropped in eight three pointers out of 24 attempts. It is a very acceptable number for a center as not many can do these things with aplomb.

McCollum has been in awe of Turner’s movement as a 7-footer and the way he is very fluidity on the perimeter. Hence he dedicates a segment to him on his show and went on appreciating the skillset that he thought was rare in a 7-footer center.

“His touch, his skill set, his pick and the jumper, his arc, like his fluidity on the perimeters. It’s rare for a 7-footer to move like that and to be that comfortable shooting threes and popping. But to also be able to block shots and be like a rim protector.”

Myles Turner is a phenomenon especially with how he is very strong and also very swift with his movements and can pop up at the most unusual positions and score important points for his team. CJ McCollum noticed him very closely on Monday and he is convinced that Turner has a big future ahead of him.

The Indiana Pacers center was in trade talks with the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers. But nothing has materialized till now as the Pacers will need a handsome package to let their future superstar leave the team.
