The NBA Playoffs always bring in a lot of talking points and this year has been no different. One of the most mouth-watering first-round clashes has to be between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics have used their home court advantage very well as they will take a 2-0 lead and travel to Brooklyn for the third game.
However the main talking point in this matchup has to be Kevn Durant’s poor shooting record in the two games as the big man has been defended really well. Therefore former NBA star Stephen Jackson hails Jayson Tatum for mostly covering up Kevin Durant as he feels the Nets are getting punked by the Celtics.
The Nets have had a torrid start to the series as they have not managed to freely score points against the Celtics. Steve Nash’s men were trailing by a big margin in the first game as they came back strongly only to get denied by a Jayson Tatum buzzer beater. The second game was totally different as the Nets built a 17 point lead at one time but still lost 114-107.
On the “The Herd,” Jackson discussed the Nets’ struggles as he said, “They’re in trouble simply for the fact that they’re getting punked, and that’s basically what’s going on. The best defensive team in the league is playing like it.”
The former NBA star Stephen Jackson shared in surprised how he has never seen KD get his shots blocked so many times in a single match. he feels Jayson Tatum deserves praise as he has lived up to the billing one way or another.
“I’ve never seen KD get his shot blocked this many times by one player. Jayson Tatum is really taking the challenge and locking KD up. I don’t wanna hear about he’s having bad games. This is two games in a row. Boston is playing great defense. Steve Nash is getting outcoached. It’s clearly shown by his lineups,” Jackson added.
“And Boston is the more physical team, and that’s the way they’ve been playing all year,” he concluded.
Celtics have been brilliant in guarding Kevin Durant. Although the match statistics show 27 points in the second match, Durant hardly shot 23.5% (4 of 17). from the floor while the other points where from free throws. Durantula failed to connect a shot in the second half even after 11 attempts.
With the tie now moving out to Brooklyn, Steve Nash will hope that he will get back Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in their best shape as it has to be now or never for the Brooklyn Nets.
