Gilbert Arenas reveals what LeBron James said during infamous ‘free throw ‘ shot incident: One man just owned me

    July 7, 2023

In game 6 of first round playoffs in 2006, LeBron James and Gilbert Arenas found themselves taking on each other for Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards respectively. Arenas had the golden opportunity to take the playoffs series into Game 7 but he could not convert the two free throws he had at the fag end of the game.

When Arenas was about to take his shots, LeBron James played mind games with the former and the Washington Wizards player could not keep his focus as he missed his shots.

In the end, Cleveland went on to win by 114-113 to take the series by 4-2 and qualify for the conference semifinals. Arena played for 53 minutes for the Wizards and top-scored with 36 points but his efforts went in vain. On the other hand, LeBron James scored 32 points for the Cavaliers to help his team get over the line.

Recalling the incident, Gilbert Arenas said on VladTV, “LeBron James not passing the ball to a dude who ain’t played two games, ain’t played this game, ain’t got a shot up no way,” Arenas said. “Sure enough, (LeBron) dribbles to the left f***ing passed the ball to Damon Jones.

“Damon Jones hits the f***ing jumper. Like, you talking about, like, you know how sick your stomach feel. Like, out of all people on that f***ing team that you had to put in and not the goddamn tenant that I’ve been f***ing trolling for the last two years.

“And, like, it was just one of those things, like, after that he just this one man just owned me. I was like I’m, like, ‘I don’t even want my money now, bro. Just get the f*** out of here.’”

Meanwhile, James, who was just 19 back then, was at his absolute best in that series. The youngster averaged 35.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals in six games. LeBron also had two 40-point performances: 41 and 45 in Game 3 and 4 respectively.
