Golden State Warriors ended their three-match losing streak against San Antonio Spurs as they defeated them by 144-113 before record NBA crowd of 68323 at San Antonio on Friday night to get back on winning ways.
Jordan Poole scored 25 points, Donte DiVincenzo added 22 for the Dubs as they came up with a fine effort.
“It was pretty electric, a really special occasion playing in front of the largest crowd in NBA history,” Poole said as quoted by AP. “I’m glad we got the win.”
The attendance at San Antonio on Friday broke the previous record of 62046 when Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls has taken on Atlanta Hawks at Georgia Dome in March 1998.
“Obviously, I hate to lose. But with the turnout, how can you be mad?” Spurs forward Keldon Johnson said. “The Spurs fanbase surpassed anything we could imagine. That made tonight special.”
Meanwhile, this was the best performance for GSW as far as the points are concerned. The team’s head coach Steve Kerr feels it was an emotional moment for him and his team.
“The presentation of the game was spectacular,” Kerr said. “For me it was a bit of a trip down memory lane. I got emotional before the game. They played the video and introduced me. To get an ovation from 68,000 fans gives you chills. This was a really special night. The Spurs made it special.”
The Warriors had eight players score in double figures as they came up with a collective show. Klay Thompson scored 16 points whereas Stephen Curry added 15 for the Dubs.
GSW will next take on Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.
