Los Angeles Lakers talisman LeBron James is nearing the historic record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and will surely break it sooner than later in the current season. However LeBron is definitely up there with the greatest players to ever grace the NBA. While many call him the Greatest of all time, others also cannot ignore his presence and longevity.
Over the years he has played for a few franchises and have guided them to the NBA title. He has only grown in stature in these two decades in the NBA and his game is still on the rise. He is still as dominant as he was during his years of prime and still has the same creativity on the ball when he was in his late twenties. He is surely the face of the NBA of this generation.
There have been plenty of talented players in the NBA but none have had the skillset to match LeBron. While some had the skills but they lacked longevity, whereas others were not as durable as he is. Some lacked the leadership quality whereas others had too many off the field issues. All these talents were good for the excitement and entertainment of the fans as none of them made the game global.
The players who took basketball to newer heights are the legends who stand out and are a cut above the rest. The list may have names of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, etc. But the fact is LeBron James has been pushing the boundaries of the league beyond America and Canada and making it a globally followed league and he has been doing it for two decades which is absolutely incredible.
Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green has been open about his GOAT choices and he feels LeBron James is the best face of the NBA as he spoke about the legend’s career to USA Today’s Ben Zillgitt. He shared how LeBron James has handled himself and his life as there are hardly anything to put a finger on.
“I recently said he’s the greatest face the NBA has ever had. Think about the day and age we live in – cameras, social media – he’s never had a scandal. Never been arrested. Never photo’d drunk. Those things go hand in hand with durability, longevity, consistency,” Green stated as everyone already knows how much he respects LeBron James.
There is plenty of spotlight on LeBron James this season as this is his 20th season and he has already moved into the top four in All-time Assists leaderboard whereas he is closing down on the All-time regular season points scored. Overall he is having a great season but same cannot be said about his franchise Los Angeles Lakersas they are in 12th position in the Western Conference with a 25-28 record and have recently defeated the Indiana Pacers. However the goal is still to play for the playoffs this season as LeBron looks in fiery mood and with Patrick Beverley, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and a couple of new recruits have looked good when they have played together as a unit.
