Boston Celtics power forward Gordon Hayward has stated that he will improve on his performances which according to him before his Injury were not 100%.
The player returned for the Boston Celtics Game 3 of their series with Miami Heat on Saturday in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Celtics won the game 117-106 over the Heats with Hayward scoring six points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals despite coming off the bench featuring for thirty minutes.
He got injured in the opening round of the playoffs series against the Philadelphia 76ers in the game 1 of the series hurting his ankle.
The player explained how difficult the first few minutes of his return was but stated that it wouldn’t stop his desire to help his team in the conference finals.
“It felt weird out there. It has been four or five weeks since I played basketball. It was really fun to be back out there with the guys. I just tried to impact our team in winning ways. Whatever I could do. After the first five minutes, I was gassed. I’m tired right now. My ankle is pretty sore. I’m proud of the way we fought. That was the first time I’ve played five-on-five basketball (since my injury) because of the way my rehab needed to be done here. It has been so different. I haven’t had an opportunity to get going. I’m definitely not 100 per cent, but it is what it is. This is the Eastern Conference Finals, so I’m going to give us whatever I can. As we keep going, I’ll find my rhythm and be better and better. That’s the plan, at least.” Hayward was quoted on the NBA website.
The Celtics lost their first and second games of the Eastern Conference finals series but can make amends with the game 4 coming up on Wednesday.
