    July 26, 2022

NBA rookie Bennedict Mathurin has issued a clarification on his remarks on LeBron James. The youngster had earlier taken direct shots at the veteran recently and his comments had surprised a lot of pundits. Mathurin had stated that nobody is better than him and he wants to see how great LeBron James is.

In fact, the youngster even went on to say that James will have to prove his mettle against him.

Bennedict Mathurin had said in an interview with Washington Post, “A lot of people say he’s great,” Mathurin said. “I want to see how great he is. I don’t think anybody is better than me. He’s going to have to show me he’s better than me.”

The 20-year-old from Canada has now tried to explain what he meant when he made the above statement regarding one of the best players to have graced the game. The youngster added he made those comments as he wanted to show self-confidence.

On the Point Forward podcast with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, Mathurin said, “I’m the rookie coming to the league,” Mathurin said. “I don’t want to say anybody’s better than me you know. So it was just me own way of saying like you know. I want to go out there and play against one of the greatest, already greatest player of all time.

“I’m not scared from anybody. I just want to go out there and see how great he is for myself. So it was nothing personal.”
