Former NBA champion Nick Young believes LeBron James should take the backseat in the scoring and let Anthony Davis flourish ahead. Young feels James needs to not try to average 30 and he should let AD be the MVP.
James scored 30 points against the LA Lakers on Wednesday before leaving the court due to discomfort in his groin area. Five minutes were left when the veteran walked off the court as the Lakers suffered their ninth loss of the season. The Lakers lost by 114-101 against the Clippers as the season continues to get worse for them.
The team’s head coach Darvin Ham said the Lakers won’t know the magnitude of James’ injury until he is seen by team doctors on Thursday.
Nick Young said on the No Chill podcast, “I think he needs to not try to average 30. He’s shooting too much. He’s shooting five, 10 threes a game. When LeBron turn into a 3-point shooter? I know he can’t go to the hole like he used to.”
“Let AD be MVP. LeBron isn’t about to be MVP no more. Let AD be MVP.”
Meanwhile, it has been noticed that the LA Lakers have been too reliant on the shoulders of LeBron James but the veteran hasn’t received support from his teammates.
James has been a lone warrior for the team and it is imperative for the likes of Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook to support him.
The Lakers have failed to come up with a collective effort and thus they have a 2-9 record in the season. The Lakers are currently in 14th place in the Western Conference and they will need to quickly turn the tables.
The Men in Yellow will next take on Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
