“I want to play the Warriors, I want to get to them,” Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards shares his goal for the next NBA season

The Golden State Warriors might have failed to defend their NBA Championship last season but plenty of young and rising stars in the league want to beat them. One such player is Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards.

It’s not only about him but some of the biggest NBA stars still aspire to beat the Warriors in the playoffs because of their sensational consistency in the last decade or so. Edwards who is mostly known as ‘Ant-Man’ recently shared his thoughts regarding the Warriors where he said about his desire to beat them. He also shared his thoughts on Warriors veteran Draymond Green.

“Definitely going back to the playoffs and going further in the playoffs [is the goal]. I want to play the Warriors. I want to get to the Warriors,” Edwards said speaking about his goal for the upcoming NBA season.

“Wherever they’re at, I want to get to them. Draymond [Green] talks so much trash. That’s pretty much the only reason,” he added.

The Timberwolves last season entered the playoffs as the eighth seed and they had to face the eventual champions Denver Nuggets. However, the Warriors played the Sacramento Kings as they were the sixth seed. While Edwards and the Timberwolves lost to the Nuggets, Stephen Curry’s Warriors progressed to the second round and played against the Los Angeles Lakers, where they eventually lost.

But the experience of playing in the playoffs has only made Edwards even hungrier as he wants to face the Warriors in the postseason. He wants to go up against Draymond Green and the Bay team desperately.

After winning the Championship in 2022, Green spoke on his podcast about the Warriors winning the next three of the next four championships. Green’s arrogance in his statement has visibly irked Edwards and therefore he wants to face the Warriors in the postseason with the intention of beating them and proving Green wrong.

There is no doubt that every team in the NBA has taken note of what Draymond Green had to say right after winning the Championship. However, after they were knocked out by the Lakers last season, Green had to admit that the Warriors were not a Championship-level team.

Apparently, some people feel that the incident between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green, where the latter punched Poole, created problems in the dressing room which was gradually reflected on the playing court.

However, the Warriors have now made several changes to their roster with Jordan Poole being traded to Washington and Chris Paul bringing in his valuable experience to compliment the likes of Curry, Green and Klay Thompson. Hence, it will be exciting to see a youngster like Edwards going up against a team full of veteran superstars.
