I want to play until I can’t no more – Kevin Durant

    April 27, 2023

Phoenix Suns’ star Kevin Durant has shed light on his retirement plans. Durant said he wants to keep going until he can’t do it anymore. The veteran is playing his 16th NBA season and he is considered as one of the best in the business.

Durant made a move from Brooklyn Nets to Phoenix Suns and he has done a great job for the franchise. The experienced campaigner is placed 13th in NBA’s leading points scorer in the regular season with 26892 points in 986 matches. He is also 53 points away from leapfrogging Hakeem Olajuwon.

“I want to play until I can’t no more, man,” the two-time NBA Finals MVP told The Ringer’s Logan Murdock.

On the prospect of winning his third NBA title, Durant said, “A title is incredible, but what it’s going to mean to me as an individual? I want to win a title for a city, for my teammates, for the organization. Is it going to get me more notoriety, more attention, a ring? It’s not really about me. That’s how I look at championships. So I want to do this together. I’m looking forward to going on the journey with these guys.”

In fact, Durant, 34, had earlier said he wants to keep playing till he is 40. Durant is still fit as a fiddle and there is no doubt that he can’t go on to play for another six years.

Durant can also take inspiration from LeBron James, who is still going strong at 38 years of age.

The veteran is also producing results averaging 28.8 points on 53.7 percent shooting, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game in the past three seasons. Durant has also helped Phoenix Suns win against Los Angeles Clippers in first-round playoff series by 4-1. The Suns will next face Denver Nuggets in the second round.
