Media is going to kick you when you’re down – Rich Paul showers praise on Anthony Davis

Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul has lashed out at the media for criticizing Anthony Davis. The Lakers big man wasn’t able to bring his best to the court due to injury woes he has had in the last few seasons.

Davis has been troubled by multiple injuries, which have hampered his progress. But the media has been critical of Davis’ performances as he hasn’t been able to consistently play for the Lakers.

However, Davis has proved his mettle in the ongoing season for the Lakers. Davis is averaging 27.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game and he has put his name in the ring for the MVP of the season.

The 29-year-old has played an instrumental role in the success of the Lakers as he has been at his absolute best. Davis has always shown great skills but he wasn’t able to deliver because of injury troubles.

While talking to GQ’s Sam Schube, Paul said: “Well, I think the first thing is, you’ve got to understand media and I think the media has the job. Some of it’s scripted, some of it’s based on analytics, and some of it’s based on viewership. When you talk about these topics, you see a rise in viewership.”

“And so the media, as it pertains to any player, but [especially] AD, is going to kick you when you down. Over the last couple years, he’s had some really freak situations.”

Paul added Davis has shown his worth at the top level, which was doubted in the last couple of seasons.

“But for me, it’s always been the same as with any guy, especially at that level. There’s no doubt in the talent, and in the ability to play the game at the high level—I think he’s shown that.”

The Lakers will face Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.
