The Los Angeles Lakers are in a tight spot as many people believe that they are wasting LeBron James’ last few seasons with a very mediocre lineup. The Lakers are struggling to make a mark this season as they are struggling in 13th position in the Western Conference.
However NBA Analyst Chris Broussard feels that the Lakers are finally making the moves in the trade window and he firmly believes that the Lakers front office are keen to cash in on LeBron’s final few years and hence they are pulling off the trades.
LeBron James is in his 20th season in the NBA and he is still going strong and leading the Lakers. He has been a sense of inspiration for many athletes all over and continues to be the player he once was. The 38-year-old is averaging 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.0 steals p-er game this season and is simply head and shoulders above anyone in the Lakers.
While many people believe that LeBron James could have been in MVP conversations had the Lakers been a bit better this season. But Chris Broussard feels that the Lakers are making some moves and are showing that desperation as they recently traded for Rui Hachimura to add wing depth, something that they lacked.
“I’m not saying Rui Hachimura is an All-NBA player, but he’s a long wing that they needed,” Broussard said. “Athletic. Supposedly he’s a 3-point shooter. Last year, he shot 45% from 3. They need shooting. What they need, mainly, Nick, is shooting, and he just supposedly improved that.”
Broussard also shared how Rob Pelinka is up for making trades if the deal suits him. He shared how the management is ready to show more intent in the market but for that they also need proper trades to pop up. “He (Rob Pelinka) just made a trade. I think what he said was, if he can make a trade, they will. … I think he’s ready to make a deal if there’s a good deal out there.”
Lastly he questioned other panelists regarding the Warriors wasting Stephen Curry’s legacy or the Trail Blazers wasting Damian Lillard’s legacy in order to justify his point.
“No, they’re not wasting LeBron’s greatness. Is Golden State wasting Steph’s greatness? Is Portland wasting Dame’s greatness? No, go out there and win,” Broussard concluded.
With Anthony Davis returning and Rui Hachimura added to the team, the Lakers surely will be looking topile up some wins and get up the ladder as they would like to enter the playoffs fray. While Lebron James is playing at a high level consistently it is not easy to say whether the Lakers are wasting his greatness in the final few years in the NBA ort not, because teams go through ups and downs every now and then. But being the leader LeBron is, he will pull through and hopefully get the Lakers back up in the reckoning.
