Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anhtony Davis has put up MVP numbers whenever he has been healthy. However his inconsistency with his injuries have hampered the Lakers’ fate. WHne fit he has bene the tormentor in chief for oppositions as he scored bulk of the points and also was a great presence in defense.
Early of the season he played with pain and missed the end of the December and early January due to injury. But before that he scored 44 and 55 against the the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards respectively on early December. He was running the floor with full intensity and was sensational on both ends of the floor.
However as the team started forming through trades with players like Rui Hachimura coming in and later D’Angelo Russell and other came in, it was LeBron James who got injured and is now sidelined. So in his absence, Davis has taken the mantle on himself to lead and guide the team to the playoffs and then take it from there.
WHile LeBron is still out injured, Davis and Russell has also struggled with injuries. But the team needs to win matches as many as possible as they aim to guarantee a spot in the playoffs. Hence the protagonists have to back themselves to get the team back in the playoffs again.
The Lakers recently defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 112-103 and the Purple and Golds are now just a step away from that guaranteed playoff spot. Anthony Davis has a big game and he shared that he is committed to winning as many games that he can for this team.
Later NBA Analyst Shannon Sharpe speaks about Davis and the Lakers and comes up with the opinion of the big man not being a threat for the other teams in the West as single superstar teams have simply not been enough in recent past. He shared that LeBron James’ return will be a big factor.
“No team is a threat with just one superstar. What we see in the NBA currently are teams are trying to get at least two. Some teams are trying to get three. We don’t know if and when LeBron is coming back. What if during the evaluation, it’s not gotten any better? Is LeBron coming back (then)? No,” Sharpe shared his opinion regarding Davis leading the Lakers.
He feels if LeBron James comes out fit and Davis remains the same he is right now, then he backs the Lakers to make it to the Western Conference Finals heading up against the Phoenix Suns.
“If you tell me LeBron is coming back and he’s 85-90% and Anthony Davis is going to play like this, they’ll come out of the West. It will be them and Phoenix in the Western Conference finals,” he added.
With Russell and LeBron James both sidelined, Anthony Davis delivered insane numbers against the Grizzlies. He played for 35 minutes and scored 30 points and had 22 boards and also led the team in blocks. Austin Reeves and Rui Hachimura also did well but it Davis who led the Lakers on both ends of the floor. The Lakers will be hoping this form continues for AD even when LeBron James returns back in action.
