The Los Angeles Lakers have been the busiest NBA franchise this offseason. They have signed some of the top veterans in the league to pair up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in their title push for the upcoming season.
After getting the likes of Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, etc the Lakers are on the verge of signing center DeAndre Jordan. The big center has plied his trade for Los Angeles Clippers for a decade and more recently he was a part of the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets traded him to Detroit Piston in exchange for Sekou Doumbiya and Jahlil Okafor. But now Jordan can join the Lakers if he clears his waivers.
Afyer spending a decade at Clippers, Jordan joined the Dallas Mavericks in a one year deal. He was then traded to the New York Knicks midseason of 2019. He then went on to sign a four year deal with the Brooklyn Nets. He started most of the games last season for the Nets and can be a good addition for the Purple and Gold army.
In the recent Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED, NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe explained how DeAndre Jordan will be a perfect fit in the Lakers’ system. He feels that the former Nets star will be a direct upgrade over Marc Gasol.
Shannon said “I think he’ll (DeAndre Jordan) be a good addition.”
“I believe he can bring what JaVale brought. The guy that can run the floor rebound and defends the paint. Look, you don’t have to run plays for him. Gasol’s about to be 37 in January, he just can’t move anymore, it’s as simple as that.
“DeAndre Jordan, you don’t have to run any plays for him. He already knows: run the court, run to the front of the rim, catch lobs, get rebound, put back dunks, defend the paint and I think he’ll be good with that,” he explained.
Several reports suggest that DeAndre Jordan and the Detroit Pistons are working out on a buyout as Jordan already has his next destination in mind.
The Lakers have added 13 players to their roster and some of them have been exceptional signings. With Jordan getting into the team one can easily call the Lakers as title favourites for the upcoming season.
