The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James came into this season with aspirations of winning the NBA Championship but they ended near the bottom of the Western Conference. The Purple and Gold failed to reach the playoffs and therefore some reaction is needed from the management.
Chief coach Frank Vogel was sacked as a result and now the Lakers are out in search of a new leader who can take this team to great heights in the upcoming season. The Purple and Gold are in for a massive coach hunt and the recent rumours suggest that the team could hire former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson.
Jackson was one of the top guards during his time and it will give the Lakers a very stable head at the top most position. Even many NBA experts feel that Jackson could manage LeBron beautifully and together they can bring back the success to Los Angeles next season.
Speaking recently on “Undisputed,” analyst Shannon Sharpe said that Mark Jackson can be the ideal coach for the Lakers as he would totally understand the situation with the franchise and LeBron James and can overall be a perfect fit.
“This would be a wonderful fit for the Lakers and LeBron. He’s a former player and has coached at a high level. He was the foundation of the Warriors team that we see. Why not give him an opportunity?”
Apart from a new coach, the fans expect some changes in the roster as well and many of them feel that there can be major sacking. The Lakers finished 11th in the Western Conference which is unacceptable considering the team that they had. So there will be drastic decisions that the front office will have to make. They will surely take Lebron’s help in these matters as he has the ability to lure players from the league.
But before getting in the players, the organisation will look to tie down with a coach and then take it from there. So it looks like Jackson can be the candidate to take the Lakers forward. The former Golden State Warriors coach is also shortlisted by the Sacramento Kings.
Also, the organisation needs to take a decision on LeBron James’ future as he will be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season. Fans are wondering if after these performances LeBron will agree to sign the extension or not.
