NBA trade rumors: Chris Paul to Suns, Russell Westbrook to Knicks

    November 12, 2020

Oklahoma City Thunder’s point guard Chris Paul could be moving to the Phoenix Suns after the latter has discussions with the Thunders ahead of a possible trade.

The discussion over the veteran, who will be due $85.5 million over the next two years, was held on Tuesday.

Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were both instrumental as the Oklahoma City Thunders got into the playoffs, a performance that has seemingly made Phoenix, who failed to get into the playoffs, interested in the 10-time all-star.

In other trades being reported in the NBA, Russell Westbrook is being linked to the Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers for a trade.

The Point guard has had a topsy turvy form, which has pretty much placed doubt on his value. Interestingly, the teams interested in his services have not had it rosy recently.

The Houston Rockets just let go of General Manager Daryl Morey, and a team built around James Harden hasn’t produced the needed result.

The New York Knicks failed to get into the playoffs spots while the Los Angeles Clippers let go of a 3-1 playoffs lead against the Nuggets in September.

On Tuesday, the NBA and the NBAPA reached an agreement as regards the 2020-2021 NBA season.

The NBA and its Players’ Union agreed on a December 22 start date and a 72-game format, ten less than the usual number of games per season.

An October start, as the tradition is, was not possible after the coronavirus forced break in March pushed the start date for the new season back.

The draft will also take place on November 18, and free agents can begin negotiations with teams From November 20 and will be able to sign deals from November 22.

The 2020-21 salary cap has also been set at $109.1m (£82.8m).
