The Golden State Warriors led by Stephen Curry took the court against the new look Phoenix Suns. But to everyone’s surprise the new look team did not have Kevin Durant. Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed his thoughts on Durant not featuring as he feels it was an opportunity for him to showcase his talent in front of the Warriors fans.
Kerr feels that the Warriors fans have nothing but love for him, for what he has done for the franchise in the past. KD and the Warriors go long back as he won both his Championship rings with the Dubs and also bagged finals MVP with the franchise in 2017 and 2018. Durant was also the part of the team that ended up as the runner-up in 2019.
Durant left the club to join Brooklyn Nets in 2019 and since then he has featured eight times against the Warriors but is yet to turn up in front of the Warriors fans. He plate din one game but that was during COVID-19 when fans weren’t around.
KD reportedly got injured and speaking about the unfortunate miss, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said, “It’s nuts, it is insane cause’ it’s been a while… This is the fourth year. We’ve always kind of anticipated his return, and we’ve always had a planned welcome back video to thank him for everything he did for this franchise.
Kerr believes that the Warriors fans would give him a lot of love. “Literally every game something come up… It’s a shame, because I think our fans would give him a lot of love.”
Kevin Durant joining the Warriors changed the dynamics in the league completely and till datte they are one of the greatest teams ever to play together and win championships.
Ever since he left the Warriors KD lost that winning touch. While he has been good with his statistics, he hasn’t found that killer instinct that was present in the Warriors side.
The Warriors however won the Championship last season beating the Boston Celtics and with Stephen Curry’s return, they will be trying their level best to defend their crown.
