Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a metronome for the Milwaukee Bucks. He led them to the title after 50 long years in franchise history. However the Greek Freak revealed how he went through pain during the finals but he kept fighting and ultimately won the title for his franchise beating the Phoenix Suns in the finals.
The Bucks overcame a 2-0 deficit as Antetokounmpo led the charge in the remaining games helping the Bucks win four games on a row to win their first NBA Championship in 50 years. The Greek Freak dropped 50 points in Game 6 to wrap up the finals as he also won the Finals MVP.
Recently in Jalen Rose’s Renaissance Man podcast he highlighted how he was in pain but the dopamine kicked in and helped him in his journey. He shared how he can tell his kids that he featured in the NBA Finals which was only a dream for him.
“I wanted it. That’s what I wanted. I came back in six days, seven days, I was ready,” Giannis stated. The Bucks superstar shared how he feels gratitude of playing in the NBA everyday as he reminisces the struggles that he went through to reach here.
“I wasn’t thinking about the pain, which I had a lot of pain. I just wanted to be a part of playing in the NBA Finals. From where I’ve come from, where I am right now, just being able to play,” he added.
The former Defensive Player of the year highlighted how so many people hear about the NBA FInals, some people watch it on television and only a few get to play in the league. So for him to play the NBA Finals gave him dopamine which took him through the finals dropping some sensational performances. “Some people just hear about the NBA Finals. Some people just kind of watch the NBA Finals. Being able to play a minute in NBA finals, that’s what on my mindset, and that gave me dopamine to continue I wasn’t feeling the pain,” Antetokounmpo added.
The Bucks had a tough journey en route to the finals aswell, they had to beat the Brooklyn Nets in the conference semifinals before taking on the high flying Atlanta Hawks led by Trae Young. However Giannis and his men stormed past them to reach the finals and ultimately finished the job against the Suns in the finals.
