Steve Kerr expected the worst with Stephen Curry’s injury but is happy that it is not as serious as he thought

The Golden State Warriors faced a setback with an injury to their talisman, Stephen Curry. But head coach Steve Kerr is relieved as the injury is not too serious and would not keep Curry out for too long. He sustained a shoulder injury during the Warriors 125-119 defeat against the Indiana Pacers.

He injured his shoulder in a defensive hustle and was immediately seen holding the area of pain. The latest reports from The Athletic’s Shams Charania is that he is scheduled to remain out for two weeks but will be carefully monitored.

Steve Kerr while assessing the situation said that he is not sure how long Curry will be out injured but he is certain that the injury is not as serious as people thought at first and his main man will be back soon. “I have no idea how long [Steph] will be out. I’m just relieved it’s not more serious and that he will be back. That was good news today,” Kerr shared.

He highlighted how this is an opportunity for the other players to step up in Curry’s absence and prove their worth to everyone in the league and also in the franchise. “When guys go down, there’s always opportunity for other players. That’s the case here. We’re going to have to hold down the fort and it’s not going to be easy. It’s been a rough go anyway, even with Steph,” Warriors coach added.

The defending champions have struggled at the start of the new season and they have a record of 14-15 and are currently in 10th position in the Western Conference. They have played well but only in patches. Kerr’s men have lacked consistency this season and even the defense has not worked in tandem.

The warriors have struggled with Stephen Curry on court as they have not been able to stop their opponents from scoring. Whereas Curry has played at MVP level this season but has not managed to inspire his team to wins.

While the Warriors are still a very strong team they lack quality in depth as their second lineup is now nowhere near the starting five. With the starting players entering their mid thirties and now if the second string players don’t raise their level then the Warriors will be in some sort of trouble for sure.
