This was really a key game for us on the trip – Steve Kerr after win against Oklahoma City Thunder

    February 2, 2023

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was delighted after his team registered a 128-120 win against Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Steph Curry led from the front once again as he scored 38 points for the Dubs as they won their third consecutive match. Moreover, the talisman scored 12 assists and eight rebounds to come up with a complete show.

Furthermore, Klay Thompson added 28 points and hit six 3s for Golden State. Kerr feels it was a really key win for them on the road and this will give them a lot of confidence and momentum.

“This was really a key game for us on the trip,” coach Steve Kerr said as quoted by AP.

“To start out with a win puts us in a good position to get some rest tomorrow, prepare for Minnesota, go attack that game and see what happens. … So we needed this one tonight, and guys did a great job of winning and getting it. Now, we’ve got to get greedy and go get the next one.”

Josh Giddey, who scored 21 points for the Thunder, feels the team failed to execute their defensive plans against the Dubs.

“We’ve kind of got to dictate terms from the jump and make teams play how we want to play,” Giddey said. “It’s hard to beat a team like that going back and forth and trading baskets because they’ve got so many weapons.”

In fact, GSW was leading by 63-48 after halftime but the Thunder were able to reduce the deficit to 94-85 after the third quarter. Furthermore, the Thunder were trailing by only two points at one stage in the fourth quarter before GSW got their act together.

“I thought there was a little bit of a boogeyman there in the first quarter,” coach Mark Daigneault said. “And then, you know, once we opened the closet and realized there’s no one there, then we started playing.”

GSW will next take on Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
