LeBron James will play his 20th NBA season in the upcoming edition of the NBA. James, who is now a giant of the game, has had a glorious career as he has stayed at the top of his fitness to deliver the goods for his teams.
The veteran has always had the hunger and the passion, which makes him an all-time great among the NBA players. It is well known that James has accomplished many personal and team records in his illustrious career and he is now on the cusp of breaking another big record.
James has scored 37062 points in the 1366 matches he has played in the regular season of the NBA while former legendary player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had amassed 38387 points in 1560 matches he played. Ergo, James is only 1326 points away from leapfrogging Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of most points in the regular season.
Speaking on Jalen and Jacoby, former NBA player Jalen Rose said, “All he does is work to get better in the gym and now when you’re staying healthy for 20 years, your longevity can put you in position to eclipse a record like this.
“So very incredible that you can go to bed one night and say ‘Nobody that has played in the NBA scored more points than me’. That is such an incredible accomplishment. We can talk about average and we can talk about greatest, but this is about his longevity, his durability, and his iconic status. This is gonna be great for the league.”
Despite his injury concern, James was in stellar form in the previous season as he averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 56 games in 2021-22. He was also selected to play in his eighteenth All-Star games. However, he could not get the support of his teammates.
The Lakers will begin its NBA campaign against the Golden State Warriors on the 19th of October.
