Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley share a sour relationship with each other. The start of their altercation goes back to 2013 when OKC Thunder and the Houston Rockets took on one another. Westbrook tore his meniscus when Beverley collided with him.
Since then, they both have said nasty things about each other. Recently LA Lakers have roped in Patrick Beverley, which will bring this duo together. However, former NBA Player Olden Polynice feels these two will never coexist on the same team as there is so much bad blood between them. Thus, he believes the Lakers will need to sell out Russell Westbrook.
On “The Odd Couple” podcast, former NBA player Olden Polynice said: “Let us call a spade a spade. Those two cannot coexist. I don’t give a damn what Darvin Ham is saying! Those two will never coexist on a team, at all. There’s too much bad blood. You gotta remember Russ’ first injury ever was Patrick Beverley. He has not forgotten that.”
Westbrook had earlier said, “Pat Bev trick y’all, man, like he play defense. He don’t guard nobody, man. Just running around, doing nothing.”
On the other hand, Patrick Beverley had called Russell Westbrook, ‘Trash’ in the previous season.
Meanwhile, the Lakers have indicated that the duo will be able to sort out their differences before the new season of the NBA.
Polynice suggested to Westbrook that he should make a move to Oklahoma City
“Me? I’d go back to Oklahoma City. Go lead the young guys. If you’re looking for a playoff team, maybe Washington. You go back to Washington and re-do it. It’s tough, man. I heard about the Utah situation but I think they’re doing a total rebuild. Isn’t it funny that we’re saying Russell Westbrook is in a tough situation?”
Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook didn’t have a great run in the previous season for the LA Lakers and it will be interesting to note what the future holds for him.
