Golden State Warriors have confirmed that their talisman Stephen Curry is making good progress and he will be reevaluated after one week. Curry has started individual on-court workouts and his recovery is on the right path.
The linchpin had suffered a lower leg injury and thus he was ruled out of action. As reported by ESPN, Curry suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a contusion to his left lower leg when his knee collided with the knee of Dallas Mavericks point guard McKinley Wright IV earlier this month.
“We know we are going to be without Steph for the foreseeable future, so same thing as what happened the last time he went down … we patch things together,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.
“The guys strung together a five-game winning streak. We held down the fort. That’s the plan this time, too.”
Meanwhile, the Dubs will face Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night at the Crypto.com arena but they will also miss the services of Andrew Wiggins, who is unavailable due to personal reasons.
In the absence of some of the key players, Kerr said, “We’ve got to make sure we’re tightening things up.”
After facing the Lakers, GSW will host teams like Houston Rockets (Friday), Minnesota Timberwolves (Sunday), and Portland Trail Blazers (Tuesday).
Meanwhile, Curry had missed 11 matches earlier in the season due to a shoulder injury and the Warriors had gone 6-5 during that stretch.
On the other hand, LA Lakers talisman Anthony Davis will continue to miss action due to a right foot stress injury. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been listed as probable for the clash against the defending champions with the former struggling with a sore ankle.
