Warriors youngster Jonathan Kuminga compared with Giannis Antetokounmpo after string of superb performances

The Golden State Warriors have evolved into NBA Championship contenders in a season. Last season they struggled to make it to the playoffs and now without any major change in roster, they have managed to regain their form. Chief coach Steve Kerr has assigned proper roles to each and every player and they have exceeded expectations till now.

While Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have been playing at a very high level, the role players have also struck the right chords and therefore they are reaping the rewards at the moment. The Warriors have also seen the return of Klay Thompson and rookie Jonathan Kuminga. The dup were out with injury concerns but have made quite the noise with their return.

While people already know the level Thompson operates at so that was not a surprise but NBA fans were awestruck with Kuminga playing exceptional basketball for the Dubs. The 19-year-old forward signed with the Warriors last summer after being drafted 7th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.

But Kuminga’s recent performances have earned a lot of plaudits from the fans. NBA fans are already making comparisons with Milwaukee Bucks talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Kuminga made his debut for the Dubs in October against the Magic and dropped in six points. he has been featuring for the Warriors recently due to Draymond Green’s injury concerns. The youngster has now been featured in five matches along with two starts.

Kuminga notched up the first double of his career against the Detroit Pistons earlier this week. He recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds in 25 mins vs. the Pistons. He also had a splendid match against the Rockets scoring seven points from the bench. His recent performances have been lauded by the fans as they have already started comparing the teenager with the Greek Freak.

“Just learning lessons,” Kuminga said after the game vs. Pistons. “I have to be smart on the floor, especially being a rookie. If I foul most of the time, I’m going to come right out. Today was my learning lesson and I’m gonna do better next time.”

Kuminga has been extremely focused and understands that all of this is a learning process for him. He will be looking to make the most out of all the opportunities that he gets and given the talent he has it will be interesting to see how Kuminga turns out in the near future.
