Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a convincing margin of 130-104 as they registered their third win on the bounce on Monday night. Suns’ veteran Chris Paul scored season-high 28 points and feels it difficult to put the brakes on them if they play like this.
The 12-time All-star was at his best against the Lakers as his team dominated from the get-go. Furthermore, Deandre Ayton added 21 points and 11 rebounds to contribute to the team’s win. It was a collective effort from the Suns as they shot 50% from the field, made 20 3-pointers, and had a 51-36 rebounding advantage, and just eight turnovers.
“When we play like that, it’s tough to stop us,” Paul said as quoted by AP.
Meanwhile, the Lakers were without the services of LeBron James (left ankle soreness), Anthony Davis (right foot soreness) and Russell Westbrook (left foot soreness).
On the other hand, the Suns head coach Monty Williams was delighted to note Paul play in an aggressive manner.
“I was happy to see him aggressive, knocking down shots and taking shots,” Suns coach Monty Williams said. “Everyone on the team, we tell Chris to shoot the ball. It’s the most unbelievable thing ever — having to tell a Hall of Fame player to shoot.”
In fact, Paul doesn’t mind his teammates and Williams putting their faith in him to take the shots.
“I guess it could be worse,” Paul said laughing. “They could tell me not to shoot.”
Phoenix Suns currently have a 19-12 record and they will next take on Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. The Lakers, on the other hand, have a 13-17 record, and they will take on Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
