Fury Extends Unbeaten Record With 10th-round Stoppage Win Over Chisora

    December 6, 2022

Tyson Fury has added one more victory to extend his professional record to 33 wins from 34 fights (one draw) after forcing the referee to interfere in his Saturday bout against Derek Chisora, leading to a stoppage in the 10th round.

The victory, regarded as a technical knockout, was Fury’s second this year, after defeating Dillian Whyte back in April. It was also the third time Fury would beat Chisora, as they have met twice in the past.

Early in the fight, it seemed as if Chisora was going to be the victor this time as he put up a solid display against his opponent. He tried, unsuccessfully, to force Fury against the ropes, but two punches from Fury forced Chisora to look worried when the second round was over.

The remaining rounds saw Fury fully in control, as he was the one leading with the blows now, although Chisora still interjected once in a while. By the ninth round, he had been cut, and Fury was still relentless. In the 10th round, he continued to take more blows, forcing the referee to step in and end the match.

Fury, once again, managed to prove that he is the king of the WBC. He also showed that he has what it takes to snatch the remaining belts in the heavyweight division from Oleksandr Usyk, who he has talked of facing in 2023. Usyk was present at the fight and even confronted Fury after, after being called a rabbit. Speaking to Usyk, Fury said: “Usyk, you’re next, 15 stone little body-building midget. I’ve done one Ukrainian, [Wladimir] Klitschko; let’s get it on.”

But he did not just leave it there. Fury also made it known that he would face Joe Joyce if Usyk fails to show up. He said: “saying Joe Joyce, a brilliant fighter, he deserves a title fight. If the rabbit [Usyk] doesn’t fight, we’ll fight at Wembley.” Knowing Fury and his plans for 2023, he might decide to face both men one after the other next year.
