Fury Predicts Usyk Will “Smash” Joshua In Rematch

    January 19, 2022

WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has said that Anthony Joshua would suffer defeat in the hands of Oleksandr Usyk when the two meet later this year for a rematch. Last year September, Joshua lost the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles to Usyk after losing the fight via unanimous decision. A rematch is currently in the works, and Fury believes Joshua does not stand a chance this time around too.

It all started when Derek Chisora predicted that Joshua would dominate and beat Fury if the two ever faced each other. Fury then took to social media to reply Chisora, saying he would not suffer defeat in the hands of a “big old bodybuilder”: “This is a message for Derek Chisora. I’ve just seen that you’ve said you think AJ would blast me out – never in a million years.”

“If the biggest puncher in history couldn’t blast me out and Wladimir Klitschko couldn’t blast me out, then a big old bodybuilder can’t blast me out, my friend.”

But it did not end there. He then went on to say that Usyk would not only beat but would knock out Joshua the next time they fight: “Usyk will smash him next time, properly. Never mind, beat him on points. He’ll knock him out.”

These jibes are not new. Fury has always made it clear that he does not think Joshua stands a chance against the Ukrainian. He even offered to take on Usyk himself so he could defeat him on Joshua’s behalf. After defeating Deontay Walter in their trilogy fight last year October, Fury has felt untouchable ever since and does look for every way to brag about it. He had his sight on a unification match with Usyk, but that would have to wait while Joshua gets his rematch.

In the meantime, Fury might have to settle for Dillian Whyte, and negotiations are currently ongoing to make that happen. If the fight doesn’t happen, Fury would have to wait to face the winner of Joshua vs. Usyk II.
