Africa’s representatives at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be revealed on Tuesday when 10 teams slug it out in the second leg of their final round of the FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The 10 teams have played each other in 5 fixtures last Friday, which was the first leg of the final rounds.
In Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, who have featured in 6 of the last seven FIFA World Cups, will hope to be the first African team to qualify for four consecutive FIFA World Cups when they host the Black Stars of Ghana.
Both teams played out a goalless encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. A score draw will see Ghana through to a return to the World Cup after missing out on the 2018 edition.
However, the Super Eagles need to win outrightly to book their ticket at the Mundial.
In Dakar Senegal, the Teranga Lions of Senegal will hope to overturn a 1-0 defeat from the first leg to secure the World Cup tickets ahead of Mohamed Salah’s Egypt.
The African champions lost by a single goal in the first leg when they conceded within the first 5 minutes of the game through an effort from the Liverpool forward which struck the crossbar before hitting a Senegalese player for an own goal.
The tie will be decided on penalties if Senegal wins the match 1-0 in regular time. However, a win of a two-goal margin for Senegal will qualify them for Qatar.
Egypt will make their second consecutive appearance at the World Cup in their history and a third appearance in total if they can avoid defeat.
Cameron has it all to do in Algeria as they lost the first leg 1-0 at home, the second leg in Algiers requires the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations host to win outrightly with a two-goal margin if they want to qualify.
Other matches will see DR Congo face Morocco for a World Cup ticket in 48 years with an aggregate score of 1-1. Tunisia and Mali will continue although the Carthage Eagles have a first-leg win advantage.
