Alves ready to return to Barcelona if called upon

    October 18, 2021

Former Brazilian defender Dani Alves has revealed he would return to the Camp Nou if he receives a call.

The Brazilian was with Barcelona for 8 years, and recently left Brazilian club Sao Paolo after mutually terminating his contract over a wage dispute.

However, after losing key experienced players, the Camp Nou side has had an uninspiring run of form the Brazilian feels he can help guide a young team through its turbulent period.

“It would sound very opportunistic to say that Barca need me now, I always said that I left because I saw things were not the way I thought they should be. If Barca think they need me, they just have to call me. I still think I can contribute anywhere, but more at Barca because of the number of young players that they have now.” Alves said.

Alves has played for Juventus and PSG since leaving Barcelona and the 38-year-old managed a silverware with the Brazilian Olympic team this summer after winning Gold in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona returned to winning ways on Sunday in the La Liga after putting Valencia to a 3-1 defeat.

Barcelona went behind as early as the 5th minute through Jose Gaya’s goal for Valencia.

However, teenager Ansu Fati equalised 8 minutes later before Memphis Depay’s penalty put Barcelona in the lead minutes before half time.

Philippe Coutinho made sure of the victory with a third late into the second half as Sergio Aguero had a four minute cameo debut.

The win puts Ronald Koeman’s side to 7th with 15 points and their first win in three games.

The pressure doesn’t reduce on the Dutchman as Barcelona look for their first UEFA Champions League victory of the season as Ukranian side Dynamo Kiev visits on Wednesday.
