Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Luka Modric is not at the end of his career and still has more to give. The Croatian midfielder will be out of contract in the summer and has only started eleven of the twenty-one games he’s played for Los Blancos in La Liga this season.
Despite being a 75th-minute substitute for Real Madrid in their 1-0 win over Sevilla on Sunday, the Croatian midfielder scored a stunner to get all three points for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The veteran midfielder has just six months left on his contract, but there have been discussions about his future. Having spent twelve years at the club, Modric has become a big personality at Bernabeu, and it wasn’t a surprise that his goal was celebrated wildly.
Ancelloti admitted they all celebrated it because he deserved it, and he scored a great goal that gave them three points. The Italian manager also said that it is very difficult to leave him on the bench, not just because of the goal but because of how he trains every day.
Regarding his future, Ancelotti claims he can’t advise the former Tottenham midfielder on his next move, but the quality of his bit-part role is more important than the quantity.
“It’s in Luka’s hands what he wants to do. We have to wait for his decision. Out of respect for him, I can’t give him advice. He knows perfectly well what he has to do. The quality of the minutes is more important than the quantity. How do I help Modrić? It’s very difficult, I know what it means. I understand when Luka is sad, but this is not his end. The whole world thinks that… but he doesn’t! He still has legs, and energy. This is not the end of his career. Look at his quality!”. Ancelloti said.
