Ancelotti berates officiating in 1-1 draw against Sevilla

    October 24, 2023

Real Madrid held Sevilla to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, but the Los Blancos are not happy with the officiating and the final scoreline.

After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead through a David Alaba own goal in the 74th minute, but Dani Carvajal brought Real Madrid level as the Los Blancos remain at the top of La Liga with 25 points from ten games level with second-placed Girona.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the game was a competitive one and also difficult but chose to stay on the Real Madrid bench without interfering with the referee because he wanted to avoid suspension.

“Irony is the only way after this match because I think that if I say what I think about the refereeing, I’ll receive a lot of games’ suspension. What I like most at the moment is to sit on the Real Madrid bench. So, to avoid suspensions, I don’t say what I think, and I use a bit of irony. It was a very competitive and difficult match. We started well. We came close to scoring in the first half. We scored two goals that were disallowed. The second half was more even and competitive because we lowered our energy and had more difficulties.” Ancelotti said.

Ancelotti further said that his team will be better physically, and we focused on Tuesday’s game in order to gain an advantage in the Champions League group stage.

Real Madrid will travel to Portugal to face SC Braga in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, with a victory taking them one step further closer to the round of 16 after wins against Union Berlin in the group stage opener and Napoli in the second group stage match.

Barcelona on Sunday pipped Athletic Club 1-0 through a debut goal from Marc Guiu.
