Ancelotti rules out Mbappe joining Real Madrid

    August 25, 2023

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Kylian Mbappe will not join Real Madrid, at least not in the summer of 2023, pouring cold water on what has been a controversial and long-running transfer saga between the trio of Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian manager revealed this on Thursday, stating that his squad was already complete despite some of the injuries that have forced goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Eder Militao on a long-term injury.

“No, I rule it out 100%. I think our squad is closed, and our players are thinking about our season.” Ancelotti said.

Despite these developments, there are still major beliefs that Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid next season even though PSG is still hoping to convince him to sign the contract extension despite freezing him out of the squad earlier this season.

Mbappe trained away from the PSG first team earlier this month as his contract stand-off continued, but he has since returned to the club’s senior team and even scored in a 1-1 draw last weekend following what the club described as very constructive and positive talks.

Real Madrid has started the season on a winning note after winning their first two matches, including a 2-0 win over Athletic Club in their opening game and another 3-1 win last weekend against Almeria.

On Friday (today), Los Blancos will travel to Celta Vigo on match day 3 of La Liga, while other matches will continue over the weekend. Also, on Friday, newly-promoted Las Palmas will face Real Sociedad.

Saturday’s fixtures will start with Cadiz facing Almeria, Granada, and Mallorca, while the final fixture of Saturday will be Sevilla against Girona.

Sunday will see Barcelona in action away at Villarreal; Valencia will host Osasuna and Athletic Club against Real Betis.
