French forward Anthony Martial has moved to La Liga side Sevilla for the rest of the season. The striker has been an outcast for most of the current season at Old Trafford and will hope to revive his mojo at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after demanding a move out of Manchester in search of playing time.
According to the details of the contract agreed by both sides, the loan deal will run for the rest of the season while the Seville-based side will pay his salary for that period.
Martial commanded interests from the likes of Juventus but he preferred a move to Spain as he targets a place in France’s World Cup roster later this year in Qatar.
He made just four starts for the Old Trafford side this season but a return to England at the end of the loan is possible as the deal did not include an option to buy or a loan fee.
Martial played just twice in the Premier League this season but overall he has played 269 matches for the Red Devils since joining in 2015 from French side AS Monaco hitting the target 79 times in seven years.
He also has 30 caps for the Le Blues of France but did not make the World Cup roaster in 2018 as his most recent international tournament was in 2016.
Martial was embroiled in a controversy earlier this month as Ralf Rangnick claimed that the player requested to be excluded from the matchday squad to face Aston Villa.
“He didn’t want to be in the squad, He would have been in the squad normally, but he didn’t want to. That’s the reason he was not travelling with us yesterday.” Rangnick said.
However, Martial denied ever refusing to play a game for Manchester United after posting on his social media.
