Two late goals from Eddie Nketiah after Mohammed Elneny’s 63rd-minute opener was all Arsenal needed to get a 3-0 victory over Oxford United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.
The win puts Arsenal in the fourth round of the competition, where they would go ahead to face Manchester City.
The FA Cup, 4th round draws, were made at the weekend, and Manchester City, after beating fast Chelsea in a 4-0 when was paired with the winners of the Oxford United v Arsenal tie.
Arsenal dominated the league one side from the start but was unable to break down the disciplined Oxford United defence at Kassam Stadium.
However, after a goalless first half, Arsenal needed to wait until the turn of the hour before they opened the scoring as Fabio Viera’s free kick found Mohamed Elneny’s head as the Egyptian headed past Oxford United goalkeeper.
Fabio Viera was in the thick of the action again as he provided the pass for Eddie Nketiah to score his first goal of the night in the 70th minute.
Eddie Nketiah will still get a brace with fourteen minutes left on the clock as Arsenal ran out comfortable winners. However, their next-round opponent is a team on their tail in the Premier League.
