Arsenal are definitely looking at reinforcement in this January transfer window and after losing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea, they have now shifted their focus on Brighton and Hove ALbion’s attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard. The Belgium international could be available at a cut price especially after his sour relationship with new Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi. Trossard has been out of the starting eleven for some matches now and Arsenal are trying to make use of this situation to lure him to North London.
The initial talk took a day and now according to GOAL, both the parties have agreed on the fee. Arsenal reportedly will pay an initial £21 million ($26m) for the 28-year-old, with a further £5m ($6m) guaranteed as add-ons. If this works then it will be a steal for the Gunners looking back at the money that they were ready to spend on Mudryk. The Shakhtar Donetsk man is talented but he is not someone proven in the Premier League, whereas Trossard has done it for Brighton week in week out and will be a great depth addition for the North London outfit.
It is reported that Trossard will travel to London for his medical as the Gunners are eager to finish off the deal and register the player ahead of their match against Manchester United. But that looks tough now as there’s some paperwork still remaining.
Speaking about the transfers this January, Arsenal boss Mikel Areta shared that they will do everything in their power to strengthen their position but will only sign players whom they can and also believe is right for the club going forward.
“We want to improve this transfer window and when I say we, myself, the coaching staff, the staff, the players, the board, and ownership. We are all in this together, but we will do the deals that we can do and that we believe is right for the football club,” Arteta shared.
While the Gunners are preparing to seal Leandro Trossard, their rivals Chelse are on a spending spree. The Blues are closing in on PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Noni Madueke. The youngster is very talented and is one of the players who was scouted by several European clubs. But Chelsea has realized the potential in him and are on the verge of signing him. This will be Chelsea’s sixth signing this season as they have snapped up players like Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Mykhaylo Mudryk, David Datro Fofana and on loan superstar Joao Felix.
