Arsenal are in great trouble as they will miss both their strikers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in their next Premier League clash against Everton. While Aubameyang is still recovering from malaria, Lacazette has strained his left hamstring and won’t be able to take part in any of the action against the Toffees.
The Gunners also provided the injury updates of Norweigian midfielder Martin Odegaard and defenders like Kieran Tierney and veteran Brazilian centre back David Luiz.
“Alex has sustained a strain to his left hamstring and will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Everton,” the club official website reported on Lacazette. “He will continue to work with the medical team and will be assessed ahead of next week’s matches.”
On Aubameyang, Arsenal announced: “Auba will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Everton, but is hoping to resume light training by the end of this week.”
Odegaard’s news will be more relief for the Arsenal supporters as the Norweigian midfielder is set to return from his ankle injury as he is already doing a light workout and may feature on the bench against Everton.
“Martin is now back in light training and will be assessed ahead of the Everton match regarding his availability,” the statement read.
There were updates on Kieran Tierney and David Luiz as well, as they are long term injury concerns. However, the supporters can now hope for the return of the defensive duo in the coming weeks.
“David is making very good progress and is hoping to integrate back into light training with the squad next week,” Arsenal said.
On Tierney, the club said: “Kieran continues to make positive progress and is hoping to be back in training within two to three weeks.”
After thumping Slavia Praha 4-0 in the Europa League quarter finals the Gunners have failed to keep up that intensity as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Premier League. However, they will be looking for full points against Everton. The Toffees are just a position ahead of Arsenal but the difference is of three points with a match in hand.
On the other hand, Carlo Ancelotti’s men recently hosted Tottenham Hotspur and played out a thrilling 2-2 draw and now will be looking for a win against their arch-rivals on Sunday.
