Lautaro Martínez at Inter Milan became one of the Nerazzurri’s figures. However, the Italian club needs to get rid of its scorer to comply with the Financial Fair Play.
But Martinez does not lack suitors since several clubs are interested in his services.
According to the Italian press, one of the clubs with advanced conversations is Atletico de Madrid.
One of the main leaders of Inter, Piero Ausilio, traveled to Madrid intending to listen to the team’s offer led by Diego Simeone and that on several occasions made public his desire to have the Argentine striker.
“Inter is in Madrid to sell Lautaro” headlined the sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport on its front page, advancing the negotiation between the two institutions. The Italian newspaper also recalled that Martínez was already targeted by Barcelona and then by Atletico before the pandemic, but at that time there was no agreement to pay the 24-year-old Argentine’s high termination clause.
“The definition for the sale of Lautaro will be given once the clubs reach an agreement on the price because, despite the interest of the Madrid club in hiring him, the 70 or 80 million euros make the operation difficult. A transfer for that amount is too high for the Spanish entity,” mentions the newspaper.
Inter took the opportunity to knock on other doors and have a plan B in case Atletico de Madrid cannot afford the transfer.
Therefore, the player was also offered to Real Madrid, which is looking to strengthen its squad with the dream of winning the Champions League again. However, Martinez would not have as much of a role in a team that has Karim Benzema and Vinicius in their offense.
Sources close to Lautaro let it be known that the player would be “very excited” about the possibility of playing for Atlético Madrid, led by Cholo, and in which he would be the partner of two other members of the Argentine team: Rodrigo De Paul and Ángel Correa.
