Brescia forward, Mario Balotelli, has revealed that he was on the verge of joining Serie A leaders, Juventus, after leaving Manchester City.
The Italian forward said it would have been a smart move but his heart was with AC Milan, which he later joined.
Balotelli, who rarely grant interviews, spoke with a friend, Er Faina, on Instagram Live during the lockdown on Wednesday to reveal that Adriano Galliani wanted him at Milan, having decided that he was heading to Juve, which he said he was okay with.
He added that Galliani’s involvement made him chose Milan over the current champions.
While noting that he is a Milan fan, Ballotelli, who said Milan was in the 7th or 8th position on the log then, but he followed his heart by moving to San Siro.
The former Manchester City striker who said it would’ve been smarter for him to join Juve at that time said he had Milan in his heart, but Juve would have been a practical choice been on top of the log.
Balotelli, who began his Serie A career with Inter Milan, professed his love for the Nerazzurri and revealed that his relationship with then Inter coach, Jose Mourinho, during the early years of his career was cordial.
Although he admitted that there was a disagreement between them once or twice, he said they got along, but was dropped for two games during the process.
Speaking on the excitement of the Portugues winning his second Champions League as a coach, he revealed that while tearful Mourinho was hugging everyone, he was practically asleep at the back of the bus.
He further revealed that his most emotional moment in football was the Euro 2012 semi-final against Germany, where he went to the stand to hug his mother and described the moment as special.
He said the loss of the final against Spain was his biggest disappointment in football, adding that the team was not at 100 percent on that day.
