After agreeing to a deal for Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona have reignited their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
Barcelona have been hyper-active in the transfer window but strengthening their defense is the next priority for Xavi’s men.
Already Andreas Christensen has joined on a free transfer, but Kounde isn’t going to be easy for Barcelona as there are other teams interested in the French defender.
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are some of the teams interested in the player, while Manchester City are on the sidelines monitoring situations with the player.
Furthermore, the financial aspect of the deal is also another headache for Barcelona, with Sevilla demanding around €60M for the player.
Jules Kounde has not resumed for the team’s preseason in South Korea while he recovers from an injury surgery he underwent in June.
Barcelona have their tabs on the Chelsea duo of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta as backup options, should they fail to sign Jules Kounde.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have held talks with Memphis Depay’s representatives to discuss his future at the club with the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
Lewandowski will join Barcelona after they reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the services of the Polish striker, who had a year left on his Bayern contract.
Lewandowski will move on a €50M deal and has stated that he is in Barcelona to win titles.
“I’m here to help the club return to the top and win as many titles as possible. I have always wanted to play in a great La Liga club, and this is a great opportunity for me. It is also a challenge in my private life. I am a player who always wants to win. We have great players, with a lot of quality, in the squad. I am excited about what we can all achieve together.” Lewandowski said.
