Spanish La Liga side, Barcelona are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz and has since entered into discussions with the German side.
The player is targeted by the English Premier League side Liverpool as well as Manchester United, but Barcelona are ready for a summer deal.
The forward so far this season has shown that he is not a one-season wonder having impressed just like last season.
He has contributed to 18 goals scoring ten times and provided 8 assist in 34 matches in all competitions this season.
He also scored twice over the weekend when Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Weder Bremen 4-1 away from home.
Meanwhile, Liverpool were rejected in their approach for the player last summer by the club and Manchester United want to try their luck by looking to add him to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Reports claim, though, that Barcelona are interested in a swap deal for the player that Leverkusen values at £72 million (€80m).
The Germans want Emerson, the right-back, and two other youth teamers, the mold of Carles Alena and Marc Cucurella.
Swapping Emerson may be difficult as the player is co-owned by Real Betis and Barcelona.
The player has shown his intention of taking the next transfer move.
“I’m ready to take a big step, and I like challenges. For me, this also includes abroad. Leverkusen are a great club, I feel good. I have always said that but, of course, I want to take the next step in my career at some point. That’s my ambition.” Havertz was quoted.
The Spanish La Liga hasn’t resumed, but training has started as part of the gradual resumption of football in Spain and the top flight.
Group training resumed on Monday under strict health protocols with players and officials tested while temperatures are checked, and players are advised to kit up from home and come to training individually.
