Bournemouth faces stern test as they welcome Man City

    February 25, 2023

Premier League strugglers Bournemouth will have their hands full on Saturday when they welcome second-placed Manchester City to the Vitality stadium; in a game, they would want to pick a point in order to boost their chances of getting further off the relegation waters.

Bournemouth currently sits in 17th position with 21 points from 23 games and just a point off West Ham United in 18th position.

Manager Gary O’Neil has stated that he wants to see the team win its games one after the other and do his job.

“I’m doing the job as asked, as I was before the transfer window and as I was before the break. It’s just head down and try and win the next football match. There are people that I trust and whose opinion I value. I do think it’s difficult sometimes; you hear opinions sometimes of people that aren’t close enough to it to know what is actually going on.” O’Neil said.

In the last three games for the Cherries, they have won one, drawn one, and lost one, and they can take solace in the fact that Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Last weekend’s draw helped Arsenal return to the top of the table and create a two-point gap ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Gunners will hope Bournemouth will pick points off Manchester City, but they must get past Leicester City at King Power Stadium same time on Saturday. Brendan Rodgers’s side lost to Manchester United 3-0 last weekend at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will be in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, which means they will sit out the Premier League this weekend.
