Bournemouth seeks first Premier League victory away to Everton

    October 7, 2023

Two sides with one of the poorest starts to the season will go head to head on Saturday as Everton hosts Bournemouth on matchday 8 of the season at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth sit in 19th position with three points from the initial seven games, scoring just five and conceding fifteen. The Cherries are one of the two teams yet to win a game this season in the topflight alongside Sheffield United, who are rooted to the bottom of the table.

The visitors on Saturday, led by Andoni Iraola, have only avoided defeats three times in the Premier League this season, including a 1-1 draw against West Ham on opening day, a 2-2 draw against Brentford, and a goalless draw against Chelsea.

However, the Cherries have had a better run in the EFL Cup, where they will face Liverpool in the next round. Meanwhile, their last Premier League game was a 4-0 loss to Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite the loss, the game against Everton should provide a form booster as the Toffees have been abysmal, losing to Luton Town 2-1 last weekend at Goodison Park.

The toffee’s only victory this season has come from a 3-1 win away at Brentford, although they have enjoyed a similar run in the EFL Cup. Even though everything sits in 16th position, they are only one point away from 19th place Bournemouth.

All the games at the weekend will see Tottenham travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town, Burnley will welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor, Fulham against Sheffield United, Manchester United against Brentford, and Crystal Palace will host Nottingham Forest.

Four games will follow on Sunday: Brighton will face Liverpool days after their UEFA Europa League trip to France to face Marseille, Newcastle will play West Ham United away from home, and Wolves will host Aston Villa before Arsenal faces Manchester City.
