Celtic star Callum McGregor has made his intentions known that he wants to end his career at the club after penning a five-year deal that will commit him to the Club until 2024.
McGregor was a target for premier league side Leicester City where Brendan Rodgers, who then managed him when he was at Celtic, made a bid for him during the summer; the midfielder has admitted that he was flattered to have gained attraction from the English side.
The 26- year old revealed before the game against Lazio that he was glad to have agreed and signed a new deal and would be prepared to stay at Celtic Park till he calls it to quit on football.
He said; it is good to get it over with and achieve that stability for the New Year’s coming ahead. I didn’t think twice before signing on the dotted line”.
McGregor started with the Club early in his teenage years. Now that he is 18 years of age, and to extend it to 20 plus years will be fantastic for him and the Club as he continues to grow and perform for the Club. By offering him a new contract, that shows how important he is to the Club, and he has to repay the faith they had in him with some excellent performances. When quizzed about if he would a club man, he said: I think so; it’s a real possibility.
McGregor has also revealed that Brendan Rodgers sent him a congratulatory text about his new contract. Saying he [Rodgers] was happy for him and wished him all the best.
