Chelsea has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign forward Timo Werner on a five-year contract.
The former Stuttgart player has already reached a personal agreement with Chelsea with just the medicals left.
He will move to London once he passes a medical, which will be done after the German Bundesliga season ends in July.
The 24-year-old has scored 32 times across all competitions this season, and he has revealed his delight at joining the Blues after four years at Leipzig while also thanking the club and its fans stating that they would always be in his heart.
“I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, and it is a proud moment for me to be joining this great club, I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a successful future ahead of us.” Werner was quoted on BBC.
The player will not feature for the German club in the rest of their UEFA Champions League games this season, especially in the Quarter-Finals in August.
Meanwhile, there is excitement in Chelsea after signing the player as the club’s director Marina Granovskaia explained the feeling of having one of Europe’s most wanted players coming to the Stamford Bridge, stating, that the player is a young, exciting talent who has been proven.
Werner joins Chelsea as their second signing after the Blues had secured Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech for £37m for next season earlier in February.
Meanwhile, the Premier League resumed on Wednesday with two matches as Manchester City beat Arsenal by 3-0 and Aston Villa against Sheffield United ended 0-0 controversially.
The next round of matches in the Premier League will resume on Friday as Tottenham hosts Manchester United and Norwich City welcomes Brighton.
