Chelsea, who have been looking to bolster their offense and scoring ahead of the 2021-2022 Premier League season, officially had its bid for Norwegian striker Erling Haaland by his Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.
Dortmund rejected the bid, indicating that they will not part ways with Haaland for anything short of £150 million
Chelsea had been open to including Tammy Abraham or Callum Hudson-Odoi in the deal. The reports initially came from Sky Germany.
Haaland has seen some attention on social media this week as the season is on the horizon with Borussia Dortmund starting pre-season training camp.
Haaland joined Dortmund in Jan. 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg. He led them to the German Cup title last season.
He has 57 goals in 59 total appearances for the club.
Chelsea had been so aggressive in their pursuit of Haaland primarily due to their struggles near the goal last season.
Jorginho, a midfielder, ended last season as Chelsea’s top scorer with just seven goals in the Premier League.
With Dortmund losing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United this offseason for a £73 million fee, chances of anyone being able to convince them for a Haaland deal will be an uphill challenge.
