Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller Bayern Munich

Clinical Bayern claim 2-0 win over Wolfsburg

    August 15, 2022

Bayern continued their hundred percent winning start to their title defense in the Bundesliga after a comfortable 2-0 win over Wolfsburg on Sunday evening.

The Bundesliga Champions, who smashed Eintracht Frankfurt for six during the season opener, registered their goals in the First half of the encounter, with strikes from Jamal Musiala and Thomas Müller enough to secure the Bavarians another three points as they continue the 2022/2023 campaign.

Bayern kicked off and got off to a bright start as usual, and it was a night to remember between Sadio Mane and the VAR when the Senegalese International thought he had put his side ahead in the 19th minute when VAR pulled play back and adjudged him offside.

The Defending champions eventually opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after Jamal Musiala made a bit of space for himself at the edge of the 18-yard area to put his side 1-0 ahead.

It was 2-0 just before the stroke of halftime at the 44th minute when Thomas Muller scored after a diversion from a Joshua Kimmich shot.

Musiala was Bayern’s brightest spark as he caused the Wolfsburg defense a lot of problems his goal made him the Bundesliga youngest player to attain a landmark of 14 Bundesliga goals at 19years of age.

Speaking after the game, the youngster [Musiala] revealed how happy he was playing consistently and getting the goals as he took his tally to three goals in the new campaign.

Bayern remains in the driving seat on the Bundesliga standings after two solid victories, with Dortmund trailing in the second spot following wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg.

Elsewhere, Mainz and Union Berlin played out a goalless draw as neither side failed to nail their scoring opportunities.

Up next for Bayern is a trip to Bochum on Sunday 21st August.
