After a long cat and mouse game, Borussia Dortmund’s head of football operations Sebastian Kehl revealed that the club will take a call on Norwegian talisman Erling Haaland’s future within the next few weeks. There are no surprises that all of the top European clubs are interested in signing the Norwegian marksman. But FC Barcelona despite their financial crunch are pretty confident to land the youngster.
While signing for Dortmund in January 2020, the former Red Bull Salzburg man signed on a four and a half year-long contract. But none at the club would have thought that he would become the next big thing for the Black and Yellows having scored 76 goals in 75 appearances for the club in all competitions.
His ability to skip past defenders, use his physicality and charge through players despite being such a huge unit makes him unique. On top of that Haaland is known for his finishing. He has his own technique but his precision is at par with some of the best in the world.
Therefore all the top European teams starting from Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, etc are all interested in the Norway international.
Recent reports suggest a strong interest from FC Barcelona. Joan Laporta has even confirmed with his peers in Barcelona that he will look to sign for Haaland in the summer transfer window. it is because Haaland’s release clause of €75 million will be active in the summer and clubs will be able to take him at a much cheaper rate.
Sebastian Kehl admits that it is up to Haaland now to decide where he wants to join or rather continue. Kehl personally believes that Haaland will continue his growth at Dortmund.
“The situation is very clear, he has the opportunity to get out [of his contract in the summer],” the Dortmund chief told a press conference.
“There are certainly a few more reasons why Haaland is in very good hands at Borussia Dortmund and why we as a club can continue to be a very good option for him.”
Apart from the interest in the La Liga, clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea have also enquired about the youngster.
Dortmund currently is second behind title rivals Bayern Munich. They are as many as nine points behind the Bavarians and Haaland will hope that he keeps all the outside noise away and performs at his best helping his team get back in the groove.
