Douglas Luiz on Arsenal’s transfer list for the January window

    October 8, 2022

Due to the physical problems of Thomas Partey, the Gunners have to go looking for a high-caliber midfielder who can cover Ghanes’ loss.

Partey left the Ghana camp with a knee injury, and his constant physical ailments are forcing Arsenal to make changes to their tactics.

According to The Sun, Arteta does not entirely trust Partey’s physical form and will seek to incorporate Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in winter.

The Gunners already tried to sign Luiz in the summer, but Aston Villa rejected the offers that came. The Brazilian contract ends in 2023, and it does not seem that he will extend his relationship with the club.

The fact that the player shows no intention of renewing his contract with Aston Villa opens the door for Arsenal to offer less for the player.

The British media affirms that the Gunners would offer around 17 million euros to ensure his signing of him in the next market.

Luiz’s constant refusal to renew with Villa would force the team to listen to offers even though they don’t want to let the player go.

Aston Villa coach Steven Gerrard expressed at the time his wish for Luiz to stay in the team and for him to understand why he was not allowed to leave.

“I’ve got confidence that he’ll understand the situation and the club’s decision,” Gerrard said. “We didn’t want to lose a very important player and a top player so late in the window.

“From a personal point of view, I very much back the club’s stance on that. I spoke to him face-to-face, and he understood where we were and the club’s position. He very much respects the decision. ”
